There is a wide variety in working conditions experienced by peripatetic music teachers. It can be difficult to know whether your experience is reasonable or fair, without some idea of what is offered elsewhere.
Back in 2018, WAMTA conducted a survey of peripatetic teachers in Western Australia. A report and guidelines were released 2 years later, which were well received.
A lot has changed since then, particularly around superannuation requirements, plus the cost of living crisis which has seen costs rise exponentially.
So we’re releasing a new survey, open throughout the month of February 2026. We are seeking peripatetic music teachers in primary, secondary, and tertiary educational institutions to complete this survey. We’ll release the report and guidelines in March 2026.
